Description The Cybersecurity R&D Systems Architect in the Test Engineering Division (TEN) will work with sponsor engineers to ensure cyber-resiliency and cybersecurity for contracts, test strategies/plans, system-specific requirements, and cybersecurity strategies for Electronic Warfare, Avionics, and Communications systems acquisition programsAdditionally, the candidate will serve as Cybersecurity R&D Systems Architect for Department of Defense (DoD) networks, information systems, and embedded electronics systemsThese systems provide DoD components with critical services and military aircraft with offensive and defensive capabilitiesThe Cybersecurity R&D Systems Architect will be responsible for a portfolio of programs potentially spanning Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Program (SAP)/Special Access Required (SAR) levelsThe candidate will support information system life cycle activities from scoping systems for new programs and preparing Risk Management Framework (RMF) packages, to regular maintenance, support and upgrades of systems during program execution, to program close-out and de-certification activitiesJob Purpose The Cybersecurity Research and Development Systems Architect designs and develops new systems, applications, and solutions for external sponsors' enterprise-wide cyber systems and networksThe Cybersecurity R&D Systems Architect is responsible for driving adoption, identifying and defining new security objectives and controls and helping with the organization's automated security validation developmentThis researcher also performs vulnerability analysis and exploitation of applications, operating systems and/or networksThe Cybersecurity R&D Systems Architect designs and implements Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM) security solutions, and applies those ICAM solutions to advanced problem domains such as federation and trusted information sharing within select target communities of sponsors and project stakeholdersThe Architect ensures system security needs are established and maintained for operations development, security requirements definition, security risk assessment, systems analysis, systems design, security test and evaluation, certification and accreditation, systems hardening, vulnerability testing and scanning, incident response, disaster recovery, and business continuity planningThe Cybersecurity R&D Systems Architect also provides analytical support for security policy development and analysis, integrates new architectural features into existing infrastructures, designs cyber security architectural artifacts, provides architectural analysis of cyber security features and relates existing systems to future needs and trendsIn addition, the Architect embeds advanced forensic tools and techniques for attack reconstruction, provides engineering recommendations, and resolves integration and testing issuesThe Cybersecurity R&D Systems Architect serves in a consultative role, defining controls for different platforms, including definition of protection rule sets, and threat mitigations for potential threatsThe Cybersecurity R&D Systems Architect also interacts, advises, and counsels on a regular basis with internal staff as well as project sponsors and other stakeholders from the communities in which these solutions are implementedKey Responsibilities--- Create product or system definitions and conduct initial requirements analysis--- Assist with the creation of technical reports and diagrams detailing product or system attributes--- Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope--- Contribute to technical reports and diagrams detailing product or system attributes Additional Responsibilities--- Participate in sponsor engagement and facilitate product or system requirements gathering and analysis--- Interpret, research, and formalize Cyber Security policies, concepts, and measures when designing, procuring, adopting, and developing new Information Systems (IS) to ensure compliance with government policies, guidance, and orders--- Assist in the implementation of the required government policy and make recommendations on process tailoring--- Develop and produce technical documentation in accordance with government guidance such as Joint Special Access Program (SAP), Intelligence Community Directive (ICD), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800, and Risk Management Framework (RMF)--- Analyze network security systems and/or information systems and safeguard networks against unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure--- Ensure Configuration Management (CM) of all associated software, hardware, and security relevant functions Required Minimum Qualifications--- Familiarity with principals of RMF and NIST publications--- Experience with the examination of system implementations of cybersecurity controls for their applicability and their level of effectiveness--- Familiarity with designing security and continuous monitoring plans for systems--- Experience with developing procedures to meet systems' cybersecurity requirements Preferred Qualifications--- Active Secret Clearance--- Familiarity with principals of Risk Management Framework and NIST publication--- Experience in system accreditation, security analysis, information assurance, and/or cybersecurity on common avionics--- Define enterprise conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) activities--- Apply MBSE tool suites to enable the use of model-based best practices in DoD acquisition and system life cycle supportTravel Requirements Education and Length of
