The Sustainment and Modernization organization within Defense Systems located in Warner Robins, GA is seeking a Senior Staff Depot Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This chief engineer position is responsible for leading the engineering efforts for the AAQ-24 LAIRCM repair and sustainment program. The position will report to the organization's engineering management team.

The Senior Staff Depot Engineer is a multi-discipline role responsible for leading a team of engineers whose broad responsibilities include fielding repaired LRUs, improving maintenance & test systems (ATE), and supporting the product from design & implementation as well as support to test & evaluation. This leader will also be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with other NG Sectors and the Customer to ensure successful performance in support of the program. This position is a hybrid role, consisting of direct support to programs and people leadership; as such it is incumbent that candidates applying have both demonstrated business acumen, team building leadership skills and extensive engineering talent. Specifically, given the nature of the position, candidates must have a wide base of technical expertise.

The responsibilities include but are not limited to the following tasks:

  • Lead technical position for the AAQ-24 LAIRCM repair and sustainment contract as the chief engineer
  • Provide strategic leadership to the program to not only ensure the engineering team successfully executes all existing tasking on contract, but actively seeks to identify new innovative opportunities within the business area to improve efficiency and generate new business
  • Perform technical planning including the generation of detailed integration master schedules, system engineering management plans (SEMPs), and cost estimations for the program
  • Manage execution of all technical efforts for the program. Ensure projects, tasks, and contract deliverables are submitted on schedule and within budget
  • Utilize full working knowledge of systems engineering procedures and practices. Utilize technical expertise to solve a diverse set of challenges spanning multiple engineering disciplines including electrical and mechanical engineering
  • Provide leadership to the engineering IPT team and be the lead technical voice for the program
  • Lead continual process improvement activities for repair processes and process engineering Basic Qualifications:
    • 20+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering program; OR 18+ years of relevant experience with a Master's Degree in relevant Engineering program
    • Experience in sustaining advanced electronics and/or electro-optical systems for DoD applications.
    • Experience applying systems thinking and process engineering best practices to programs
    • Proven leadership skills as a people and technical leader, and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
    • Experience as a lead engineer/chief engineer
    • Experience working modern electronic production and repair efforts
    • Experience developing detailed integrated master schedules
    • Current and Active Interim Secret clearance (or higher) per business requirements.
    • US Citizenship is a requirement.
    • Must be able to work at location in Warner Robins, GA. Preferred Qualifications:
      • Current Secret Security clearance .
      • Experience leading modern electronic production and repair efforts
      • Experience in modern electronic production techniques and application of Industry 4.0 techniques to projects
      • Demonstrated experience reviewing complex electrical and mechanical engineering specifications, schematics and drawings with the ability to translate customer driven requirements into specifications
      • Experience with modern circuit card assembly production MissionSE

        Salary Range: $147,800 USD - $221,800 USD

        Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
