Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector is currently seeking a Business Development Manager 3 to join our talented team of business development professionals. This is a leadership role that will be responsible and accountable for growing the business development portfolio for an operating unit focused on system and software sustainment.

You will work closely with programs within the operating unit to expand capability delivery in current and new markets and will be assigned to Warner Robins, GA Operating Unit. The preferred location for this position is on site at our Warner Robins, GA Facility. An alternate location is our McLean, VA location. (We might consider Full-time Telecommuting for the right candidate).

You will use your innovation and out-of-the-box systems thinking, strong understanding of program management and engineering, and the ability to align capabilities to customer needs to drive pipeline growth.

You will use your strong communication ability to manage multiple lines of effort - such as growth campaigns, product management, marketing projects - involving teams comprised of several functions and disciplines. You will use your experience and ability to formulate effective strategies to drive near- and long-term profitable business growth.


  • Grows the pipeline through opportunity identification, assessment and maturation aligned with business unit strategic objectives.
  • Ensures pipeline sufficiency to achieve annual and long-range growth objectives.
  • Translates business unit strategic plans into operating results.
  • Develops and manages customer engagement plans aligned to appropriate leadership levels within the organization.
  • Provides decision support to leadership with strong business cases for pursuing new growth opportunities.
  • Develops and manages internal budgets required to execute new business growth activities.
  • Ensures compliance with the Northrop Grumman Business Acquisition Process to ensure the development of quality products and successful business outcomes.
  • Oversees the development of sound win strategies for targets within the business development portfolio
  • Collaborates with capture managers to identify resources to close on capture and proposal requirements through proposal delivery
  • Supports the transition of proposal awards to successful program execution.Basic Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree
    • A minimum of 10 years combined government and/or industry experience with relevant business development background
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience with system/program sustainment, logistics, manufacturing, or other areas across government programs
    • Experience/familiarity with the DoD budgeting process.
    • Significant scale pipeline development and execution along with a winning record
    • Ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance
    • The ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed (up to 25% of the time)
    • The ability to work on-site in Warner Robins, GA or McLean, VA
    • Customer intimacy with USAF, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army and other US government organizationsPreferred Qualifications:
      • Master's degree
      • Current DoD Secret or higher clearance.
      • Weapon system avionics component and software sustainment experience
      • Airframe depot level maintenance, repair, overhaul and upgrade experience a plus
      • International business development experience
      • Program Management experience
      • Experience with US DoD Public / Private Partnership experience
      • Knowledge of the Northrop Grumman Business Acquisition Process Salary Range: $134,200 USD - $233,200 USD

        Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
