Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Med Surg - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 04/20/2026 - Duration: 8 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview - Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs - Hours: 36 hrs/wk - Start Date: Apr 20, 2026 - Length: 8 weeks - Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg position on a high-acuity surgical unit at a Level 1 trauma center, requiring strong ortho/trauma surgical skills and a minimum of 2 years of specialty experience. Details - Position is on the 5B Surgical unit of a high-acuity, inner-city Level 1 trauma center - Fast-paced environment handling complex, high-volume, and diverse trauma and surgical cases - Night shift, 12 hours per shift, 3 shifts per week - No on-call requirements - Travelers are expected to work 4 weekend shifts per month - Block scheduling is generally not approved - No RTO (time off requests) approved for this assignment Requirements - Active GA or Compact RN license required - Current BLS certification required - Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience in a similar-size, high-volume hospital setting - Strong ortho/trauma surgical skills required - Experience in high-pressure, large-scale trauma environments required - Background in high-volume hospitals managing diverse and severe cases required - Skills checklist matching the Med/Surg specialty required for consideration - Certification cards required for consideration - Active license verification (Nursys) required for consideration - Resume with no employment gaps greater than 60 days required for consideration Additional Information - Provide nursing care to surgical and ortho-trauma patients in a high-acuity Level 1 trauma center environment - Candidates whose experience is limited to small or low-volume hospitals will not be considered - Local candidates are accepted for this position American Traveler Job ID P-689837.
