ARRT Magnetic Resonance Imaging BLS - Basic Life Support Must-Have:
Must exhibit excellent communication skills. Must have the ability
to function independently and under pressure. Must be compliant
with all established practices, protocols, and procedures.
Description: Must be flexible with work hours to meet department
needs. Must be dependable, accountable, and cooperative. Assists
with providing safe, age-appropriate care to patients by performing
all exams according to department procedures. Has the knowledge and
ability to properly and safely obtain a quality diagnostic study.
Responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures
requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in the
utilization of equipment for the diagnosis and/or treatment of
diseases. Able to independently perform job functions. Sets up the
equipment to provide imaging services and positions patients for
procedures. Obtains complete clinical history, gathers examination
data, and assesses for contraindicating conditions. Follows
established procedures for the administration of contrast media to
ensure patient safety. Ensures that all studies have proper patient
identification. Collaborates with other technologists across
modalities when needed. Observes patient condition and evaluates
situations when physician intervention is necessary. Verifies
correct identity of patients prior to performing procedures
according to policy. Ensures patients' privacy and comfort are
accommodated and maintains their dignity throughout exams.
Demonstrates competence in the determination and application of
appropriate procedures, equipment, supplies, and techniques based
on patient age. Organizes schedule, time, and priorities to
accomplish required activities within designated time frames.
Understands, demonstrates, and documents pre-procedure verification
and Time Out process when needed. Demonstrates and understands
pre-and post-procedural care. Preps the patient for procedures and
demonstrates understanding of sterile technique. Prepares trays and
catheters for procedures and participates in biopsies if
applicable. Demonstrates proficiency on the Dynacad, if applicable.
Prepares and may administer contrast. Verifies order includes
contrast and checks patient GFR and dosing of contrast is
weight-based. Uses appropriate safety devices to protect patients'
hearing during exams. Understands anatomical positioning, correct
labeling of body parts, and infant immobilization. Applies critical
thinking skills and seeks clarification on ambiguous orders.
Demonstrates the ability to adjust techniques to ensure optimal
image quality. Reports problems regarding malfunctioning equipment
promptly. Cleans, disinfects, and maintains equipment according to
infection control policy. Operates patient monitoring systems
effectively. Patiently and clearly explains the purpose and nature
of exams to patients prior to procedures. Ensures that patients'
questions and concerns are addressed satisfactorily. Participates
in training and orientation of departmental employees. Maintains
clear and precise documentation. Reads and follows email
communication regarding assignments and responsibilities. Completes
mandatory education without prompting. Produces acceptable images
and follows established exam protocols. Ensures equipment is
operational prior to each use. Maintains a safe and orderly MRI
suite environment. Restocks linens and supplies as required.
Transports and positions patients and assists them on and off
procedure tables. Completes patient charging activities on the
service day. Applies supportive and immobilization devices and
equipment. Lends knowledge and assistance to others promptly when
needed. Performs routine clerical and support duties as required.
Keeps supervisors informed of responsibilities and promptly
notifies them of any issues. Maintains an individual productivity
rate comparable to co-workers. Demonstrates competence in all
aspects of MRI, patient positioning, pulse sequence parameters, and
magnet safety. Understands anatomy and pathology as they affect the
quality of procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies
