Job Title: RN Clinical Periop Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Inpatient Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM, 4 days a week Experience: Minimum of 2 years OR experience required License: Registered Nurse (Single State) or Multi-State Compact Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) - Instructor required Must-Have: Ability to read, write, and speak English; strong interpersonal and collaborative skills; excellent time management skills; strong critical thinking and analytical skills Description: The RN Clinical Periop Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers. They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and supported by a shared governance model. The framework for practice is guided by a professional practice model and evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core competencies. All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing. They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards set forth by the professional nursing association. As a member of the patient services team, the individual must support system policies and procedures while promoting service excellence. Core responsibilities include performing the Nursing Process effectively. This involves assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical care. They provide relationship-based, patient-centered care consistent with specific population characteristics. The RN Clinical Nurse collaborates with patients and significant others to set care goals. They practice using current clinical standards and coordinate safe quality patient care documentation. Teamwork and collaboration are essential, as they foster a respectful and inclusive clinical environment. The RN participates in performance improvement and supports research to enhance patient care. The role requires proactive planning for patient care across the continuum. They may be involved in developing protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes. The RN Clinical Periop Nurse completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and mandatory education. They may also serve as a preceptor or mentor for other nurses and staff, modeling professional practice. The role includes promoting evidence-based practice and participating in data collection. Candidates must have strong computer skills and the ability to respond calmly to emergencies in a fast-paced environment.
